How St. Patrick's Day could have benefitted from self-service solutions

An Irish what-if ...

March 16, 2012

What if retailers could have used St. Patty's Day to maximize their ROIs with a self-service kiosk? That's a question that Mzerothought it would answer with this nifty infographic.

This innovative self-service device could allow patrons to search for local pubs and get recommendations. Next, they could redeem their pots of gold by scanning a QR code with their smartphone and redeeming it at the kiosk. As if that weren't enough, they could even get recipes for green beer, shepherd's pie and other Irish fare.

After they've downed a few too many pints o' green beer at the local pub, they could share any leprechaun sightings via social media at #leprechaun.

If perhaps they've had too much fun, they could use biometrics to identify who they are and RFID to find their way home. If that's out of the question, then they could always call a cab directly from the kiosk and pay using mobile payments such as Square.

"Marketers could get analytics from the device that can help them micro-segment customers. For instance you could find out exactly how many people wore the famous 'Kiss me I'm Irish' shirt out to pubs," said Sheridan Orr, VP of global sales and marketing.

Mzero has other kiosks in the works to continue to maximize holiday enjoyment, Orr said. "Our current roadmap is to create an April Fool's Day kiosk. However, we currently are having problems validating the data."

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
