Washington State considers allowing marijuana vending machines

May 13, 2014

The recent unveiling of theZaZZZ pot vending machine in Colorado has the State of Washington thinking about permitting the use of marijuana kiosks, reports the Seattle Times.

ZaZZZ is an automated marijuana dispensary kiosk from American Green, a division of publicly-traded Tranzbyte. American Green, which is also publicly traded as American Green Corp., claims to be the first publicly-traded medical marijuana dispensary brand in the world.

Washington State is considering allowing the use of marijuana vending kiosks in recreational marijuana shops, Randy Simmons, deputy director of the state's Liquor Control Board, told the Seattle Times. The shops are expected to open in July in Washington State, serving customers over the age of 21.

ZaZZZ kiosks are able to verify the age and identity of users through biometric technology, according to Tranzbyte.

“At first blush, it seems feasible that [the kiosks] could be used in a licensed retail store, but I would need more internal discussion to say yes for sure,” Simmons told the Seattle Times.

American Green's newly acquired YO! Debit Card has been rebranded as “ZaZZZ” for use in its proprietary machines and will be accepted at participating dispensaries and other select locations that become members of the ZaZZZ Network
