Walmart has installed its large, in-store pickup kiosks in more than a dozen stores in cities including Gilbert, Arizona; Glenpool, Oklahoma; Enterprise and Auburn, Alabama; Gwinnett, Georgia; and Midlothian, Virginia, according to Business Insider. Called Pickup Towers, the units are at least 16 feet tall and about 8 feet wide — and they are typically located near store entrances.
Customers scan a barcode located on their purchase receipt, and within 45 seconds, a machine door opens and the items appear on a conveyer belt.
The kiosk at the store in Enterprise, Alabama has been active since June 26, while the one in Auburn, Alabama has been active since June 12, a company spokesman told AL.com on Wednesday. .
