A giant vending machine located on the Omaha side of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge linking Omaha to Nebraska has been removed after being repeatedly vandalized, Omaha World News reports.
The Shop24 automated convenience store was popular with Parks Department employees, local condominium dwellers and people visiting the riverfront and bridge, Omaha World News quoted Omaha Parks Director Brook Bench as saying. However, during the year-and-a-half that it was in operation, the vending machine was the repeat target of vandals and thieves, Bench said.
Bench said that the owner of the vending machine, which was manufactured by Shop24 Global, plans to find a less turbulent home for the machine.
Shop24 automated convenience stores offer up to 200 items, and accept cash, credit cards, debit cards, and student cards.
