USA Technologies, a provider of cashless payment services for small-ticket, self-serve retailing, has included tokenization in the latest upgrade to its Port Connect system.
Malvern, Pa.-based USAT serves industries such as vending, amusement, arcade, commercial laundry and kiosks. The ePort Connect platform, the company's flagship service, is a PCI-compliant, end-to-end suite of cashless payment and telemetry services, the company said.
The addition of tokenization increases the security of ePort by replacing the primary account number of a credit or debit card with a surrogate value or token, USAT said.
In addition to security benefits, tokenization provides USAT customers with insight into each consumer's buying patterns, the company said. Customers can use the activity associated with the token identifiers to track consumer trends, such as the range and frequency of consumers' purchases.
Other recent upgrades to ePort include enhancements to USAT's MORE loyalty and prepaid program, fund transfer and cash flow improvements, and the ability to schedule recurring marketing campaigns by day of week and time of day.
In December 2013, USAT announced enhanced capability for mobile payments and the release of ePort Mobile versions 2.0 for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.
