All 72 ServiceOntario kiosks are still out of order after card skimming devices were found on four machines in the Greater Toronto Area, according to 680news.com. The Minister of Government Services pulled the kiosks last week as a precaution after hearing concerns from area police that there may had been security breaches.
The province said the security breach took place at four kiosks in the Greater Toronto Area, with illegal card readers being used to steal the credit and debit card information from customers who used the kiosks to renew their license plate stickers.
The government does not yet know how many people may have had their information stolen, but its working with the manufacturer of the kiosks to see if they can find a way to prevent the use of skimming devices in the future, said the Government Services Ministry.
