The manager at the Attleborough branch of U.K. supermarket chain Sainsbury’s is to hold an evening advice and guidance session, with coffee and biscuits, to help customers learn how to use self-service checkout tills, reports the Eastern Daily Press.

Topics covered by the session will include: instruction on how bagging area scales work as theft deterrents and why the self-service tills stop if checked items are not placed on the scales; instruction on pricing items without barcodes such as produce and bakery; and the issue of job-loss at the store due to the use of self-checkout machines.

The Attleborough Sainsbury’s will always offer the option of manned check-out tills and will also employ staff to help with self-service checkout, Jason Symonds, the store’s manager, told the Eastern Daily Press.
