French travel comfort brand Traveller Socks has opened its first airport retail installation at Brest Bretagne Airport in France, according to a Global Travel Retail Magazine report. The automated unit, located in the boarding area, sells nonmedical support socks designed to ease discomfort and the feeling of heavy legs during long periods of sitting.
The socks are made with cotton-rich fabric and feature progressive support, seamless toes and an ergonomic fit. Designed in Paris and manufactured in Portugal, they come prewashed in four sizes and several colors, allowing travelers to wear them immediately. Prices start at about $40 per pair, while the regional Brittany Edition sells for about $45, based on current exchange rates.
Traveller Socks is using a Magex BigStore 9 automated retail unit equipped with adjustable trays, an elevator delivery system, a 22-inch touchscreen and self-service payments. The Brest installation will serve as a pilot for gathering customer feedback and refining the shopping experience. The company plans to add products such as travel pillows, sleep masks and accessories while expanding to other French airports and, eventually, international hubs.
