TouchTech, Zytronic partner for large-format touchscreen digital signage

Zytronic's multitouch MPCT touch-sensing solution is now fully compatible with Touchtech Lima, an interactive software solution developed by Touchtech, according to an announcement from the companies. This combination of technologies should provide a foundation for the companies to develop large-format touchscreens with the resilience essential for public-use applications, they said.

"The Lima software platform is optimized for use in commercial and corporate applications using large-format displays. These systems will generally have a high frequency of use and therefore be subjected to a considerable amount of wear and tear," Ian Crosby, Zytronic sales and marketing director, said in the announcement. "Zytronic's multitouch MPCT sensors are intended for exactly the same types of environments. This is why achieving product compatibility is such a great opportunity for both of us, presenting our respective client bases with a more comprehensive touchscreen solution that addresses all the elements needed to create visually-appealing bezel-free touch display designs."

Working with both the Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems, Touchtech Lima allows a group of users to simultaneously interact with a variety of multimedia content through a single, multitouch-enabled display. Capable of working with full-HD 1920-by-1080 pixel displays, it can be applied to wall-mounted units or touch tables. Lima gives users a high degree of content customization, and has already been incorporated into touch interactive systems deployed in a number of locations, including hotel lobbies, conference facilities and company boardrooms.

The high degree of robustness exhibited by Zytronic's touch sensors, along with their ability to detect touch events through thick layers of protective glass, means that they are proven for use in even the most physically demanding of operational environments, including unattended, outdoor deployments, according to the company.
