TikTok influencer arrested for Target self-checkout theft

A 22-year-old TikTok influencer, Marlena Valez, was arrested this week in Florida after allegedly stealing over $500 worth of merchandise from a Cape Coral Target store's self-checkout, according to a report by The Mirror.
Police said Valez was identified after posting a video of herself stealing the items on TikTok. The video, which was intended to showcase her lifestyle as a mom, inadvertently captured her criminal act.
"Once at the self-checkout register, the female suspect did not scan the items' barcodes, instead scanning a false barcode with cheaper prices," Cape Coral Police Department said in a press release. "Sixteen items of miscellaneous household goods and clothing were stolen. The total loss of the stolen items was valued at $500.32. Officers verified this with Target's security cameras."
Valez is facing charges of petit theft and is scheduled to appear in court on December 10.
