Food applications to drive thermal paper market through 2025

The rising use of thermal paper in food applications has led to the high growth of the global thermal paper market, according to Transparency Market Research, in a report titled "Thermal Paper Market — Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast 2017–2025."

Thermal papers are used in applications such as kiosks, ATMs, cash registers, thermal printers and billing machines. Stringent quality regulations imposed over the last few years will compel industries to focus more on properly labeling their products, which will have a positive impact on the overall market.

While the use of bisphenol is approved by certain organizations, several authorities refrain from using it due to possible adverse health impacts. Such stringent regulations may negatively impact the global thermal paper market over the forecast period. Furthermore, the rising adoption of e-receipts across the world will pose a threat to the market.

Nevertheless, the entry of new players will spur opportunities for the global thermal paper market in the coming years. In addition to this, opportunities across developing markets such as India will present the market with opportunites to expand over the forecast period.

For instance, a demonetization drive by the Indian government in November 2016 with the aim of reducing "black" money has increased digitization and cashless transactions. Such government policies have positively impacted the market by boosting the use of thermal paper.
