Swyft forms foodservice subsidiary, names CEO

April 29, 2019

Swyft Inc., a global provider of automated retail and retail automation, has formed a subsidiary, Swyft Food Service Automation, focused on providing retail solutions for the food and beverage industry with an aim to improve the way consumers shop. It offers sensor-based technology solutions for vend operators, which Swyft's existing business models have not previously provided, according to a company press release.

Swyft also named Mike Kiser as CEO of the subsidiary. Kiser is the former CEO of Canteen and former board member of Compass Group.

"For years Swyft and our subsidiary ZoomSystems have grown in international markets providing robotic technologies with brands such as Best Buy, CVS and Nespresso," Gower Smith, CEO of Swyft, said in the press release. "As vend operators have increasingly sought our technology, we responded by creating new sensor-based technologies that are cost-effective, simple to operate and deliver a great consumer experience. We are thrilled to welcome Mike Kiser on board, as we take this exciting new offering to the market."

At the National Retail Federation Big Show in January this year, Swyft displayed prototypes of its sensor-based cabinets and refrigerators that allow consumers to simply pick up items and walk away.

"Since Gower filed his first automated retail patents in 1992, many other companies have since followed suit," said Kiser. "Now I believe we are jointly paving the way for these new sensor-based technologies to make a huge splash in global markets and improving the way consumers shop."
