Residents of the Pennsylvania township of Cranberry can now access Social Security information via a kiosk installed in the town's municipal building by the Social Security Administration, a TribLive article said.
Users can access benefits, change of address and direct-deposit information through the kiosk. The kiosk allows users to create accounts, access a phone and video-conference with a Social Security employee
"It's really convenient for people to not have to do at home or go to Ambridge [the location of the nearest Social Security office]," said Chelsea Puff, Cranberry's community projects administrator, in the article.
The kiosk installation was initiated by the federal government, which will also maintain the station, while the town will pay for electricity used. The township is considering potential privacy solutions, including facing the kiosk toward a wall so that passersby cannot access information, the article said.
