Bolt On Technology released what the company believes to be the "first ever" auto repair shop kiosk, according to a company announcement.
The Welcome Station is a tablet-powered kiosk that allows customers of auto repair shops to perform several tasks ordinarily completed by shop workers. Customers can check-in at the stations and select repair services at the stations, which in turn alert staff to tasks in the queque.
Welcome Station also prompts users to choose repairs, said the Downington, Pa., company. For example, area weather alerts could direct the kiosk to ask, "It's raining — Would you like us to check your wipers?"
"Our technology will save service advisers two minutes or more of per customer check-in time — which is huge," Bolt On Technology CTO Mike Risich said in the announcement. "What could you do with an extra 30 minutes a day?"
