The University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz., tapped Asteres Inc.'s automated prescription pick-up kiosks as a means to grow their outpatient pharmacy revenues, according to a news release from Asteres.
UAMC will use Asteres' ScriptCenter kiosk to provide 24-hour prescription drop-off and pick-up services to hospital employees, especially those workers that need the services when the pharmacy is closed. The kiosk will reduce pharmacy hours and increase discharge medicine sales by redeploying pharmacy staff during the busy mid-day period, according to the release.
"In order to staff our pharmacy from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, we were left short staffed in the middle of the day when we needed our employees most," said Justin Brock, manager of Outpatient Pharmacy Services. "Our busiest time for discharge patients is from 12-3 p.m., and we just couldn't keep up."
