Saratoga Springs, New York has installed nine informational kiosks and dozens of directional signs on Broadway as part of a $300,000 wayfinding project, according to the Saratogian.
One side of each kiosk provides a unique aspect of the city's history including information on its founders, racing and mineral waters. The flip side has a map showing shoppers where to find stores and other points of interest.
The project, spearheaded by the Saratoga Springs Special Assessment District, took seven years and used $200,000 from the City of Saratoga Springs, $75,000 from property assessments, $10,000 each from Skidmore College and Saratoga Hospital, and $6,000 from downtown merchant donations.
