Sacramento Kings stadium to offer Zippin cashierless checkout

September 30, 2019

Customers at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, home of the NBA's Sacramento Kings, will be able to walk in, grab an item and check out in less than 30 seconds, thanks to the Zippin app.

Cameras and sensors will track what customers take from the store shelves and charge their payment cards, according to a Business Insider report.

To use the store's cashierless option, customers need to download the Zippin app or the Sacramento Kings + Golden 1 Center app. Customers can also enter by presenting a valid credit or debit card.

The store will be open during Sacramento Kings' home games and concerts.

Zippin, a provider of checkout-free technology, opened its own store last summer that primarily serves as a real-world environment to demonstrate its platform for retailers interested in offering a frictionless shopping experience. While Zippin offers a prefabricated turnkey store, the customizable, modular shelf sensors can be retrofitted to existing stores.
