Rite Aid is deploying 3-D holographic kiosks in its stores next year, according to a letter to shareholders from the kiosks' manufacturer, Provision Interactive Technologies.
CEO Curt Thornton said the company will deploy 3-D Reward Centers in Rite Aid stores, starting with 200 stores but eventually would install the kiosks in up to 4,800 of Rite Aid's 4,679 stores.
The kiosks, which include a display unit that shows 3-D images without the need for special glasses, are also interactive using the company's "Air Touch" technology. Images are visible within a 60-degree range and can be projected more than four feet.
