Reliance Jio Infocomm rolling out 1 million battery recharge kiosks

Broadband Internet provider plans to roll out battery recharge kiosks and connectivity outlets to increase subscribers.

India-based broadband Internet provider Reliance Jio Infocomm plans to roll out 1 million battery recharge kiosks this December, according to areport by Telecom Lead. In addition, the company also plans to open 500,000 connectivity outlets and 1,000 Jio centers.

These rollouts are part of a plan for Reliance Jio Infocomm to increase subscribers through the use of its branded devices.  

"We will start extensive beta testing of our telecom infrastructure, including network across the country in the ensuing weeks to commence operations in December," said V. Srikanth, CFO for Reliance parent company RIL, in a statement.
