Coinstar's redbox is making global waves, according to company CEO Paul Davis, who told investors that redbox has already begun testing kiosks in select regions of Canada.
Davis also admitted that the number of kiosk installations will be lower this year compared to years past but expects success for 2012. He said to expect 4,000 to 6,000 new installs domestically, with the majority of locations likely being conversions of NCR-owned Blockbuster Express. (Coinstar recently bought nearly 10,000 of NCR's kiosks.)
The company made headlines a few days before that announcement when it announced a partnership with Verizon to compete with Netflix.
Davis told investors that he was "excited" to tap into the 20 percent of redbox consumers who also use Netflix.
