Pizza Hut tests pickup locker in Hollywood

The Pizza Hut at 6660 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, California, is testing the brand's first cubby pickup stations which a spokeswoman for the brand called perfect for the "time-strapped, introvert in all of us" since the stations are basically automated, human-free interfaces that push pies out to ordering customers. 

Diners who order through any channel from the Sunset Boulevard store, including via app, online, in-store or by phone, just pay, head to the designated cubby and tap twice to retrieve their orders. Cubbies all have digital displays with the customer's name and include special linings that keep hot food hot and cold offerings chilly. 

More of what the brand calls its "frictionless storefronts" featuring the cubbies are planned for next year around the West Coast.
