Payment kiosks aim to 'transform the Mexican cable industry'

December 19, 2013

Kiosk manufacturer Slabb Inc. announced that it is finalizing an order that will provide more than 80 kiosks to its reseller IT Solutions, based in Mexico. The company sells Slabb's kiosk line throughout Latin America and will be providing the customized X6 kiosk units to the corporation that controls the largest television network in Mexico, according to a company news release.

The software for the units will be provided by IT Solutions and will facilitatethe receipt of subscriber payments. This is the second phase of the project which began with two pilot runs in specific areas of the country over a month-long period, the success of which prompted the corporate-wide rollout, the release said.

"It is a great way to end another successful year, with a trusted partner to ensure that we deliver on time and to specifications," said Slabb President Peter te Lintel Hekkert. "This project will be instrumental in transforming the way Mexico's cable industry does business, with the hope that it will eventually feed into other industries and the wider Latin American region as well."

Despite the difficulties experienced in the Latin American kiosk industry, particularly in Mexico, due to the slow adoption of technology and the lack of infrastructure, IT Solution's Director of Operations Israel Sevilla Guerrero said that the company has had positive experiences since entering the market.

"The companies that do implement the technology are always very satisfied and appreciate a finished product with a striking design, high quality and exceptional engineering and craftsmanship," he said in the release. "It's a product that we are proud to stand behind and that we are sure, along with our continued marketing efforts, will encourage more widespread adoption."
