Acuity Market Intelligence announced that the deployment of Automated Board Control and Automated Passport Control kiosks has risen to more than 2,500 worldwide, a sign of a maturing market.

According to Maxine Most, principal at Acuity Market Intelligence, in a press release, "The market for Automated Border Control is entering a new phase of market maturity. We are seeing full-scale deployments in countries like U.K. and Germany that are rolling out ABC eGates across all their major airports bringing global eGate numbers to more than 1,600 worldwide. In the U.K., this automation is being extended to land borders as well with plans to provide ABC eGate pre-clearance for Eurostar passengers departing Paris and Brussels for London."

Most reported that APC kiosks are experiencing extraordinary growth. "In less than a year, the number of APC Kiosks deployed in North America has more than tripled, with more than 800 operational and another 184 targeted to go live by Spring 2015," Most said. "Acuity Market Intelligence is tracking growth on an ongoing basis and projects the global market for APC Kiosks will reach 8,000 units by 2018."

Acuity has published "ABC eGate Deployment List" and "APC Kiosk Deployment List," research publications devoted to findings on each known deployment, including number of units, locations, installation date, vendors, costs, and vendor market share information. For airport-based ABC kiosks and eGates, Acuity issued "The Global Automated Border Control Industry Report: Airpot eGates and Kiosks" research report.
