Smart vending machine company Pantry raised $1.3 million to roll out more of its healthy snack machines, according to bizjournals.com.
The machines are equipped with Google Inc. Android tablets and credit card readers for cashless payment. The "smart" aspects allow Pantry stations to detect when an item has been removed. A tracking system alerts staff to restock items via radio frequency.
The company plans to install machines at Academy of Art University, Stanford Business School and the fast casual restaurant sector.
