The Lititz Borough Council in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is moving forward with plans to modernize downtown parking by installing two ParkMobile payment kiosks this fall as part of a broader effort to replace traditional parking meters, according to a Lancaster Online report.

The kiosks, which will cost about $12,000 each, will be located on East Main Street near Cedar Street and on North Broad Street at Kleine Lane. The borough approved the ParkMobile system in April after receiving complaints that existing meters were confusing and difficult to use.

The new system will allow drivers to pay for parking through the ParkMobile mobile app at a rate of $2 per hour, with the ability to monitor and extend parking sessions remotely. For those who prefer not to use a smartphone, the kiosks will accept cash, coins, credit and debit cards, while pay-by-text and other payment options will also be available. Borough officials said signs throughout the downtown area will direct users to the app and explain available payment methods.
