NYC office directory gets digital makeover

April 18, 2011

Although most buildings in North America still utilize old-fashioned company directories in their lobbies, REDYREF Interactive Kiosk Products is ready to change that.

The U.S.-based kiosk manufacturer and interactive software developer recently replaced a static directory in a New York City office building with a state-of-the-art digital/electronic directory that can be updated from a remote location.

REDYREF engineers fitted the existing space with a 65-inch screen LED monitor. They filled the remaining space with a custom-laser cut, bronze enclosure with lettering of the property's address over the top of the bronze panel to give the directory a high-end look.

"In order to complete a project of this caliber you need a dedicated staff of engineers so that all the pieces fit properly," said Will Pymm, REDYREF's vice president, in a press release. "If it didn't fit properly the first time around, the customer could have been without a directory for three to four weeks. We took the necessary steps to implement the solution properly, and in the end we produced a solution on-time and on-budget with a very satisfied customer."

Although the project was a non-interactive directory, the company can also provide interactive touchscreen directories.

"It just depends on what the client wants," Pymm said.
