Reliant, a subsidiary of NRG Energy, is deploying its NRG Go Portable Power solution to NRG stadiums and locations in Katy, Texas. The self-service solution is designed to vend portable cell phone chargers, according to a press release.
Users can rent one of the portable power packs from a NRG Go kiosk, and then return it after they finish charging their devices. The power pack is designed for all iPhone 4 and later models and most Android devices. Users can rent a power pack for $3 per day but are free for the first day for Reliant residential and small business electricity customers.
"Everyone knows what 'power anxiety' feels like – that acute fear of your phone battery going to zero and being helpless. With Reliant's NRG Go, people can get the charge they need when they're away from outlets," said Elizabeth Killinger, president, Reliant and NRG Retail. "This gives consumers peace of mind so they can take pictures of memorable moments, find their way on maps, share spontaneous interactions and simply stay connected."
The company has deployed six stations at Typhoon Texas, Hilton Garden Inn, Katy Family YMC, Little Woodrow's and No Label Brewing Company in Katy, Texas. It has also deployed 12 stations at the NGR Stadium in Houston, Texas.
