North Carolina hospital checks in self-service kiosks

Patients at Novand Health Brunswich Medical Center in Bolivia, North Carolina, will now be able to check in for appointments using self-service kiosks.

Patients at Novand Health Brunswich Medical Center in Bolivia, North Carolina, will now be able to check in for appointments using self-service kiosks, according to a report by Star News Online.

In addition to checking in, patients can use the kiosk to update information, scan insurance cards, make payments and request activation for MyChart, an app that allows patients to view their medical records on their phone.

The kiosk has a built in iris-scanning camera to identify patients and connect them with their medical records. They can also simply use their name to check in.

The hospital also is working to establish a single patient record throughout its facilities to allow patients to easily access their information.
