The city of New Rochelle, New York will install more than 100 Palo Wi-Fi kiosks in its downtown, according to The Journal News.
The kiosks, designed by LQD Wi-Fi, which was recently bought by Verizon, will allow users to charge mobile devices, use the Wi-Fi hotspot, use an interactive touchscreen for checking the weather or navigate a city map.
New Rochelle will be the first city to feature the Palo kiosks, development commissioner Luiz Aragon said. He said 25 stations will be installed in the first wave, with more than 100 when the final phase is completed. LQD will install and maintain the kiosks and collect revenue through advertising. The city will incur no cost for the services.
