New hotel is first to launch self-service in Polish market

April 20, 2011

Ariane Systems, a provider of self-service check-in/out technology for the hospitality industry, has installed its interactive check-in kiosks at Poland's first Puro Hotel in Wroclaw.

This installation by the Wroclaw-based Puro hotel chain marks the first check-in kiosk deployed in the Polish hotel market, according to a press release.

The hotel opened this month and features a centrally-located self-check-in desk in the lobby with four kiosks to provide guests with access to their rooms.

"Puro Hotels is a new concept of its kind in Poland and will be a complete revolution in this market," Hotel Director Lukasz Piekarski said in the release. "We are integrating tech-savvy solutions that are not to be found in any other hotel facility in the country, including the self-service check-in."

Using an intuitive interface designed by Ariane, the entire process from entering a reservation number to obtaining a room keycard typically takes less than 30 seconds from start to finish. The keycard also provides access to the elevator and Puro coffee machines. Guests who need to check-in without a previous reservation may do so and will be prompted to pay with a credit card using the terminal.

"It is part of Puro Hotels' visionary business strategy to provide an efficient, convenient and affordable stay for the increasingly sophisticated Gen Y traveler who is comfortable with new technologies, and that model includes an array of self-service options, including advance payment," said Robert Karkulowski, managing director for VisionTime, the exclusive distributor for Ariane Systems in the Polish market.

He also said in the release that the full-service solution includes a payment system designed by Wincor Nixdorf.

"Besides providing convenience for the guest and saving operational costs for the properties, we have also created a completely paperless check-in and -out for Puro, which fits well with the green and sustainable initiatives that they have set in place as a chain," Karkulowski said.

Other integrated solutions that the company is providing for the new Puro Hotels include Protel PMS software and Hafele RFID door locks, which also interface with the self-check-in solution.

The Puro chain expects to open eight additional hotel properties in Poland by 2015, including Krakow and Warsaw locations. All Puro properties will feature self-service check-in kiosks from Ariane Systems.
