Mzero launches management app for tablet kiosk solutions

May 1, 2013

Mzero, the software division of Aberdeen, N.C.-based Meridian, today announced the release of MzeroMobile, a series of applications that the company said brings the robust capabilities of Mzero software to tablet devices.

The current iteration of MzeroMobile can be downloaded and installed only to Apple iPads, the announcement said, with Android compatibility set to arrive in the near future. Upon launch, the application will display a splash screen and will start by pointing to a default home page that can be customized by the administrator.

MzeroMobile enables the lockdown of mobile and Internet websites and allows Mzero's performance-management feature to monitor the usage and status of the solution. Additionally, the monitoring feature will send reports about the device and peripherals as issues arise, allowing for maximum uptime, according to the news release.

MzeroMobile's security features include:

  • Secure browser
  • Optional URL white-listing - prevent user access to unwanted sites and applications.
  • Reporting tools (reports URLs, number of users, duration of usage startup history, alarms, alarm history)
  • Administrator screen
  • Idle-timeout – returns iPad to home page after period of time
  • MzeroCloud dashboard
  • Real-time notification of the state of health
  • Anti-tamper and anti-theft alerts (optional)

"This application will transform the way our customers will think about self-service," said Paul Burden, director of software at Mzero. "By offering our best-in-class security and management features to tablet devices, we are truly staying in line with the growing trend of mobilization in the industry."
