According to News-Gazette.com, five new Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District information kiosks, displaying bus schedule information and other data, have been installed at the University of Illinois campus.
"We're installing them at our highest-boarding locations," said Bill Volk, managing director for MTD. "Besides an LED information scroll, they also have an LCD screen with the same information, which is more at eye level. And they have the capability for us to send information, such as reroutes. And potentially, we'll be able to put in emergency information, such as if the UI campus had an all-campus emergency."
Volk said the five kiosks, plus 22 more that will be installed along MTD routes, totaled $821,000.
The kiosks also have audio features for those with visual disabilities.
