According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Minnesotans can now use a kiosk to check to see what their Minneapolis Public Schools student is eating for lunch, add funds to a school lunch account or even enroll a student.
Under a state school choice grant, Minneapolis Public Schools are deploying five new touchscreen kiosks over the next few days, with the first going live on Thursday. The first will be deployed at a neighborhood community center, while the rest will roll out to local grocery store, a school district families center, the district's student placement office and its headquarters. The school district also is looking to deploy kiosks at another five high-traffic location at a later time.
The kiosks are accessible in Somali, Spanish, Hmong and English, and while many of the kiosk features already are on the district website, school officials said the kiosks provide access for families without Internet access.
