Lavu Inc. has launched a self-ordering kiosk app within its POS software service following a beta test in the U.S.
The app is available now at the Apple app store; an Android version will be released soon, according to an Albuquerque Journal report.
Lavu is issuing updated features for the app weekly, according to CEO Saleem S. Khatri.
The self-service kiosk lets patrons order and pay for their meal. Restaurants can download the app to iPads, tablets and Lavu countertop and wall-mounted stands.
According to the report, the solution is ideal for small restaurants and bars, and is primed to drive upsell activity. Khatri told the Journal that Chili's has seen a 20 percent increase in order check totals since adding an independent ordering option.
Lavu software also offers order tracking and analytics capability, and allows restaurants to offer nutritional information to diners. Future enhancements will allow frequent diners to place their regular order quickly, the report said.
