Kodak ups digital photo segment presence

June 7, 2004

MALAYSIA-Kodak Malaysia is increasing its market presence, especially in the digital photography segment, by doubling the number of its stand-alone kiosks from the current 60 to 120 by year-end, according to an article on The Edge Daily. In April, Kodak Malaysia launched the kiosks-Kodak Picture Maker G3 Order Station-which allowed customers to process digital images on their own. General Manager Ivy Peng said the company expected these kiosks to contribute between 15% and 20% to the company revenue in its financial year ending Dec. 31, 2004. She was optimistic that contributions from the digital segment would "definitely increase in years to come". Malaysia is among the top three markets for Kodak imaging products in Southeast Asia. Peng also said the company would increase the number of outlets processing photos and selling Kodak products by another 20 to 30 units by year-end. Among the current 500 outlets, there were also 120 digital mini-labs. Peng said the digital mini lab could process color films as well as images from smart mediums such as digital cameras and camera phones.
