DemocratandChronicle.com: Eastman Kodak Co. plans to develop a $45 million factory in its hometown that will produce supplies for turning digital images into photographic prints.
The company said today it had chosen Kodak Park for the new plant, which will manufacture paper, ribbons and other media for a variety of digital printers.
When it begins production in 2006, Kodak's digital media factory is expected to employ about 50 people.
The work product from the site will go into the company's self-service digital imaging kiosks as well as printers for consumer and professional photographers.
Those products have seen explosive growth as consumers and professionals alike look for help in making prints of their digital images.
