WHEC-TV: At least 100 Kodak jobs are moving south as the company streamlines its manufacturing. The job cuts come from Kodak's Picture Maker kiosk business. A plant in South Carolina will get the jobs sometime this year.
Kodak would not reveal the name of the company that will take over the job of building the kiosks. Kodak said it is an experienced company and said the move will reduce its manufacturing costs, reduce its inventory, streamline its supply chain and help make more money.
Former Kodak Executive Larry Matteson said the move is consistent with the way Kodak has worked over the past 10 to 15 years. "They ought to be doing it at the lowest possible price and cost location and the result of that is that the kiosks cost less. There will be more of them out there and more paper and ribbon being used which is where the company has its proprietary advantage."
