Kiosk software designer KioWare has gone live with its latest release of KioWare for Windows, Version 8.2, aimed at making it easy to display and secure browser-based applications using the Chromium browser engine, according to the company.
A company spokeswoman said KioWare has released an update for the new KioWare for Windows (Version 8.2), focusing on simplifying the configuration process and providing more customization capabilities. The update is available to existing KioWare for Windows and KioWare Classic for Windows license holders (with current support).
Some highlights of the updated software package include:
The tool to import KioWare Classic for Windows xml files into a usable format is designed to make the transition from Classic to the Windows Version 8.2 easier for users. "The newly available importer tool and the ability to convert from KioWare Classic to the new KioWare for Windows means that existing KioWare clients are able to seamlessly convert to the new product," Jim Kruper, KioWare president and founder said in a statement. "It was important to us to make the transition as painless as possible for current clients, while appealing to those new clients looking for a fresh & modern kiosk software solution."
The update also comes with an attract screen drop down, which allows customers to create custom attract screens with multiple images which can then be auto played on the kiosk.
Other features include new HTML keyboards, which are available in more than 50 languages, customized pop up dialogue, and a timeout warning dialogue, according to the release. Customers can also customize whether new windows are opened as pop ups or as new windows, or whether to allow the default KioWare settings to determine how a window should be opened.
Lastly, KioWare for Windows Version 8.2 also adds a number of peripheral devices including ChipDNA, which is designed to support different EMV PINpads and communication protocols. The update also comes with the barcode reader Code Corp Code Reader 1000, and the dispenser Sankyo SHT1610-0730 Dispensor.
KioWare for Windows Version 8.2 is available for download and purchase now. The software has one single installer for the Lite, Basic and Full versions of the product.
