Kiosk deployed to meet Ohio vital statistics code

The Vital Statistics department of Eaton, Ohio-based Preble County Public Health has installed an electronic index kiosk, a requirement of the Ohio Revised Code mandating public access to birth and death records.

The Vital Statistics department of Eaton, Ohio-based Preble County Public Health has installed an electronic index kiosk, a requirement of the Ohio Revised Code mandating public access to birth and death records.  

The kiosk project updates records in real time and allows customers to conduct their own searches, eliminating extra work for staff and removing the risk of issuing sealed information, according to Eaton's Register Herald. Users can search birth records back to 1908 and death records through 1954 provided they have the first and last name or the last name and date of birth of the individual.
