Blint Shakes, the developers an automated kiosk that dispenses blended protein shakes, announced their support for the recent FDA rule requiring vending machines owners to place nutritional information for each product sold in a highly visible location.

According to a report in the New York Times, the policy will require the posting of calorie counts on vending machines, Blint said in a press release.

"Vending machine owners lobbied to be excluded from the regulations, as did the convenience and grocery store associations," the Times reported.

Blint Shakes founder and CEO, Oscar Perez, opposed the lobbying effort, stating that his company is "strongly in favor" of the new regulations.

"It is counter-productive for the vending industry to challenge rules that help consumers make informed purchasing decisions. We believe in transparency in labeling, and providing high quality, healthy items to consumers in a convenient manner," said Perez in a statement.
