Interactive Teller part of the ATM picture at Cadence Bank

June 28, 2013

Cadence Bank, a regional FI serving the Southeast and Texas, is set to become the first bank in Birmingham, Ala., to use interactive video technology. This fall, the bank will add two NCR Corp. APTRA Interactive Teller units at a new location, extending banking hours for Cadence customers.

Cadence, a $5.7 billion FI with more than 100 locations, will offer remote teller services from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, more than doubling the availability of its branch service hours.

"We are always exploring new ways to provide our customers with richer, more flexible experiences to conduct their financial transactions," said Sam Tortorici, CEO at Cadence Bank. "These remote tellers allow us to efficiently increase our service hours without substantially increasing costs."

Cadence customers will be able to use NCR APTRA Interactive Teller for many of the same transactions they would carry out at a teller desk, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, bill and loan payments, account transfers, opening new accounts and initiating loans.

"Cadence Bank is taking an innovative approach to make their customers' everyday lives easier," said Brian Bailey, vice president and general manager of NCR branch transformation. "NCR APTRA Interactive Teller is helping Cadence extend their retail network and give their customers more flexibility in their day."

According to NCR, APTRA Interactive Teller is the only video ATM technology that gives the teller remote control over the machine, enabling an expanded range of capabilities. The company also said that independent studies show 90 percent user satisfaction with the technology among among those aged 25 and older. Eighty percent of general banking customers aged 25 to 55 said they'd be willing to use video teller machines for general banking transactions.
