OverDrive, a supplier of e-books, audiobooks and other digital media to schools and libraries, announced that it will demonstrate its new interactive OverDrive Media Station at the American Library Association Annual Conference & Exhibition.
Using touch and swipe gestures at wall-mounted or free-standing kiosk touchscreen stations (including large screens or tablets), the solution enables library visitors to browse, search and instantly sample all formats supported by the library, including e-books, audiobooks, music and video, according to the news release.
"OverDrive Media Station provides a unique and compelling way for libraries to introduce their popular e-book, audiobook and video service to the millions of people who visit libraries every day," said David Burleigh, director of marketing for OverDrive. "These large, interactive displays can be placed in high traffic areas throughout the library, from the welcome area to the café, to reach even more of the community and develop loyal users."
The OverDrive Media Station is currently piloting in public libraries in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and Baltimore, Md. The ALA conference takes place June 28-July 1 in Chicago.
