The City of Dallas Department of Public works is soliciting residents' input on an initiative to update the city's communication kiosks with elements that would improve the kiosks' interactivity, raising awareness of local businesses and events and enhancing community engagement and neighborhood safety, according to a City of Dallas news report.

The city proposes to install interactive digital kiosks in commercial, mixed-use, retail and entertainment areas within the city's high pedestrian areas.

The kiosks would be updated with SmartCity technology and a touchscreen display. These new elements would provide the community and advertisers with an environmentally friendly method to share important community information. The kiosks will also offer free wi-fi to the public.

The department of public works will host two community meetings, one virtual and one in-person, to discuss the proposal.
