September 16, 2014

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport announced the release of its customs clearance program including self-service kiosks.

The airport installed Automated Passport Control touchscreen kiosks for U.S. and Canadian citizens who, upon arrival in the U.S., can use the stations to enter passport information. Non-U.S.citizens from 38 visa-waiver countries can also access APC kiosks, as can lawful permanent residents.

The airport also installed self-service options for travelers with carry-on bags only, which allow Customs and Border Protection passage at an automated kiosk as an alternative to waiting in luggage check lines.

"Approximately 70 percent of DFW's international travelers automatically process through security, waiting an average of less than 14 minutes," DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue said in the announcement. "Working in partnership with the CBP, we have shortened wait times by 40 percent, while still experiencing an 8.46-percent increase in overall passenger traffic. We are proud to be the only U.S. airport that offers all of these programs, and it is a huge milestone in our effort to become the preeminent global hub for passengers around the world."
