The advent of iris imaging within mobile devices is a prime factor that will spur global iris recognition revenue to hit $1.93 billion by 2024 and boast an annual growth rate of 14 percent.
The technology, which was developed in the 1980s, has steadily advanced in innovation and is pretty much on par with fingerprint recognition technologies. It has long been the domain of immigration kiosks, cash dispensers and military biometric jump kits, according to a new report from ReportLinker.
The research firm's prediction is the result of 20 use cases examined in the report, which also details revenue and device shipments for standalone devices and mobile device integration.
