Automated retailing kiosk lands in Detroit

AVT Inc. announced that its Utique Shop has deployed in the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

Utique is an interactive, touch-sensitive, automated store that offers an assortment of luxury and personal items such as gifts, gadgets, electronics, and skincare items by high-end and niche labels, according to a company news release.

The kiosks have been deployed in airports, resorts, entertainment destinations and malls, the release said. AVT Founder and Chairman Shannon Illingsworth said the Utique Shops are part of the growing trend toward automating the retailing process.

"Retailers are looking for solutions that allow them to grow efficiently, enhance their brand, and stay connected to consumers," Illingworth said. "And consumers are seeking quality, convenience and engaging, multi-channel shopping experiences. Utique Shops provide all that and more."
