3D technologies R&D launches 3-D wayfinding

3D technologies R&D, a company that specializes in 3-D applications, has launched its 3D Wayfinder, a Web-based service for creating 3-D building guides for to be used on touchscreen displays

The application shows the route from the kiosk to the destination by visualizing it in 3-D, according to a company press release. The application has all the basic building directory functionality, and everything can be managed through the 3D Wayfinder website, including tenants, elevators, toilets, ATMs, etc. Users can use browse the directory by topics, keywords or simple search.

Creating a 3D Wayfinder application for a specific building is quick and easy, according to the release. After uploading the 3-D model of the building, the user can easily configure it, and it supports most of the common 3-D model formats, including obj, 3ds, fbx and dae.

3D Wayfinder also offers 3-D advertisement functionality for the building manager. All tenants can add simple adverts to the directory and to their locations.

All advertisements are shown based on search context and location of the kiosk with 3D Wayfinder. Based on ROI-calculations for average shopping center, 3D Wayfinder application may earn back the investment made to the kiosk-hardware as quickly as three months.
