Zaplink offers public service announcements

October 19, 2003

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Time spent idly waiting at checkout counters can now be spent viewing public service announcements (PSAs) from the Ad Council.

According to an article in the Ad Council Newsletter, the organization formed a partnership in March with ZapLink, a joint project between Circle K and Info Touch Technologies that focuses on checkout media technology. Circle K stores in Tucson, Ariz.; Phoenix, and central and northern California are showing Ad Council PSAs 96 times a day.

Said ZapLink's Director of Ad Sales, John Nishiyama, "The relationship between the Ad Council and ZapLink, Circle K's in-store advertising program, really exemplifies how we can get awareness into the community about the real issues that affect people's lives everyday."

Along with checkout counter flat panel media screens, ZapLink also provides Ad Council information on its user-friendly, in-store Internet kiosks.

These kiosks, managed by Info Touch Technologies, provide customers with a multi-functional resource center to help ease everyday tasks, ranging from paying bills with cash to sending personal e-mails with pictures.

Every month, thanks to ZapLink's assistance, up to 4 million people are exposed to Ad Council PSAs and campaigns, the article said.

[Editor's note: Info Touch Technologies became Tio Networks in April 2006.]
