Visitors to Waimate, New Zealand will now be able to find information on local tourist sites, thanks to a new information kiosk. The kiosk was designed by Matt Hampton, owner of philanthropic telecommunications company Get Talking NZ Ltd, according to a report by The Timaru Herald.

Hampton came up with the idea for a kiosk due to his concerns that New Zealand tourist sites were often not mobile friendly and lacked complete information. In addition, there was no place to find all the information on attractions in the area.

Now with the kiosk, businesses can utilize a plug-in to update the information on the machine remotely. The kiosk also acts as a Wi-Fi hotspot for visitors.

Hampton plans to install additional kiosks in Ashburton and Geraldine to test its software and functionality. "The overall goal is to have a kiosk in every town across New Zealand," Hampton said.
