Whole Foods Market kiosk offers up exotic eats

July 25, 2016

A new Whole Foods Market in the notoriously hip neighborhood of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York, has installed a kiosk where customers can place an order for exotic produce and ingredients from Baldor Specialty Foods, according to a report by Supermarket News.

The Baldor Forager will feature a variety of uncommon edibles such as water-grown wasabi root, white strawberries and bluefoot mushrooms imported from France. Kiosk users can place their order and then return for an in-store pickup within a day or two.

"We know our customers want to try new, special and exotic ingredients, [but] it’s been a challenge for us to stock fresh, unique produce items that are very fragile and have a short shelf life," Tony Rajaram, produce coordinator for Whole Good's northeast division, said in the report. "The Forager is going to let us accomplish this simply and efficiently through our in-store kiosk."
